Your data

You probably landed on this page because you found out Ziptalk has your phone number, and you never signed up for anything. That is a fair thing to question. The explanation is short.

Ziptalk transcribes WhatsApp voice messages. Someone you talk to subscribed to the service and connected their own number. From then on, when you send them a voice message, it passes through us to become text in their chat.

So the access came from them, not from you. And they are the one who decides what gets saved.

What we never keep:

• Your voice messages. Audio is turned into text in memory and discarded right after. There is no copy.
• The transcripts. They go into the chat and do not stay with us.
• Your conversations. The service has nowhere to store messages.

What may be stored:

• Your number, and the name that person saved you under, if they turned contact sync on. It is used to show them who sent each voice message.
• A usage record: the date and length of the voice messages that went through the service, along with the sending number. That is what their bill is based on.

You do not need our permission, or anyone else's.

Send the message "/stop" in the chat where this happens. From then on your voice messages in that chat are no longer transcribed, and it stays that way until you change your mind.

If you want to undo it later, send "/start" in the same chat.

This takes effect immediately and does not depend on us replying to anything.

If you want more than stopping transcription — you want your number out of our records — write to [email protected].

Tell us the number and what you want. You do not need to prove anything upfront, and you do not need an account to talk to us.

You have these rights under Brazil's data protection law whether or not you are a customer: to know if we process data about you, to know what it is, to correct it, and to ask for its deletion. We answer within the period the law sets.

There is a distinction in the law worth being open about, because it changes who can do what.

Whoever connected the number is the controller of that data: that person or company chose to use the service, and it is their address book you are in. Ziptalk is the processor, handling the data on their instruction and only to transcribe voice messages.

In practice we settle some requests directly — removing your contact from our records, for one. Others depend on whoever controls the number, and in those cases we pass your request on and follow it through. If the request reaches us, it does not die here.
